Ifbb Pro Joseph Palumbo

 
Joe Palumbo has been hooked on bodybuilding and living a healthy lifestyle for over 30 years. His love of bodybuilding started at the ripe age of 11, after having moved to the U.S. and getting his first glimpse of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Every chance Joe had, he worked odd jobs just to make extra money to purchase bodybuilding magazines. At the age of 20, weighing only 150pounds, he began training to become a bodybuilder. In 1980, Joe joined a hardcore bodybuilding gym, Mr. America’s Gym in Long Island, New York. It resembled more of a medieval torture chamber then a fitness centre. This gym saw many pros pass through the door in search of the ultimate hardcore atmosphere: Nothing short of all-out intensity was permitted within those walls.

In 1985, Joe left Mr. America’s Gym for a more advanced, serious hardcore gym-Bev Francis’ Gold Gym, currently known as the East Coast Mecca, Bev Francis Powerhouse Gym in Syosset. With the right advice and exceptional training partners, Joe was able to train like a madman. In 2000, finally feeling ready for the Nationals, Joe entered his first National show and came in second place in his class. He also maintained a career in law enforcement, having received six certificates for meritorious police duty, was awarded the prestigious Medial of Commendation for going beyond the call of duty, and was voted Police Officer of the Year. He also had the honor of joining the police department’s elite SWAT team.

2001 was a big year for Joe Palumbo in bodybuilding. He competed and won first place and the overall Championship at the Masters Nationals. This is when he earned his pro status. Joe also was a special guest of Flex magazine and Joe Weider at 2001 Mr. Olympia, where he was presented a gold medal award for my participation on 9/11 at Ground Zero in NY.

Over the years Joe had a string of injuries that kept him from training. Joe Palumbo’s last show was in April 2010. His plans for future include gaining thickness and striving to get better every year. He believes that if you want something bad enough, it will happen.

People have always told me, “You can’t have it all.” Joe’s response is. “I have a wonder family, a successful career in law enforcement, pro bodybuilding status, and to have training/dieting/nutrional articles published in law enforcement and fitness magazines. Joe’s head of security for Bev and Steve Weinberger at the NPC/IFBB shows in N.Y. area, as well as for the Mr. Olympia contest. I have it all, and I am still going for more.”

Joe’s achievements include IFBB professional bodybuilder, certified trainer, advancesports nutrition specialist and certified Navy SEAL fitness instructor. Currently, Joe is still with the tactical SWAT team in New York, Joe is also the Director of Physical Performance for Infinite Labs.
